Aircraft Description
The Vickers Viscount is a British medium-range turboprop airliner first flown in 1948 by Vickers-Armstrongs it entered service in 1953 and was the first turboprop-powered airliner. included pressurisation, reductions in vibration and noise, and panoramic windows. It became one of the most successful and profitable of the first post-war transport aircraft;
445 Viscounts were built for a range of international customers, All production Viscounts were powered by the Rolls-Royce Dart turboprop; from its initial 800 hp, and then 1,000 hp
Trans-Canada Airlines purchased 51 Viscounts from the plant in Weybridge, Surrey, England. Air Canada Retires the Vickers Viscount April 27, 1974 .. it had 40 seats in 2 class config.
